The SanDisk Optimus GX 7100 1TB NVMe SSD is designed specifically for high-performance gaming, content creation and demanding everyday PC workloads. Combining a PCIe 4.0 x4 interface with NVMe 2.0 technology and high-performance TLC NAND, the GX 7100 provides the speed needed to reduce loading times and improve overall system responsiveness.

The 1TB model delivers sequential read speeds of up to 7,250MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6,900MB/s. These speeds make the GX 7100 particularly well suited to modern gaming PCs, performance laptops and systems frequently handling large game installations, media files and creative projects.

Random performance reaches up to 1 million read IOPS and 1.4 million write IOPS, helping minimise delays when accessing large numbers of smaller files and improving responsiveness during gaming, multitasking and application-heavy workloads.

Unlike the QLC-based Optimus 5100 series, the gaming-focused GX 7100 uses 8th-generation SanDisk BiCS TLC 3D CBA NAND. It also incorporates SanDisk nCache™ technology, which is designed to improve responsiveness and help minimise game lag during demanding workloads.

The GX 7100 is designed with future gaming workloads in mind, including games that support Microsoft® DirectStorage. DirectStorage-compatible systems can take greater advantage of high-speed NVMe storage when loading game assets, helping reduce storage bottlenecks in supported titles.

SanDisk has also focused on power efficiency, making the GX 7100 suitable for performance laptops and compatible handheld gaming systems where power consumption can directly affect battery runtime. This allows users to benefit from high PCIe 4.0 performance without limiting the drive to conventional desktop gaming systems.

The 1TB capacity provides a practical balance between performance and usable storage, with enough room for Windows, applications and a selection of modern AAA games. The Optimus GX 7100 family is available in capacities ranging from 500GB through to 4TB.

Users can manage the drive through SANDISK Dashboard for Windows, allowing drive monitoring, firmware updates and access to Game Mode. SanDisk also includes support for Acronis® True Image™ for SANDISK, helping simplify migration from an existing storage drive.

The drive uses the widely supported M.2 2280 S3-M form factor, measuring only 80 × 22 × 2.38mm and weighing approximately 5.8g. Compatibility requirements include an M.2 2280 port and PCIe 4.0 x4 interface, with Windows 10 and later officially listed by SanDisk.
