To accommodate the robust power of its components, the Strix SCAR 18 underwent a comprehensive redesign of both its chassis and motherboard. This overhaul enabled the integration of a new full-width heatsink, strategically positioning the copper fins even closer to the exhaust vents for enhanced cooling efficiency. The innovative heatsink comprises three distinct sections, enveloping the motherboard with densely packed fins, resulting in a substantial surface area of 195,509mm². Compared to its predecessor, the 2022 Strix SCAR 17, this represents an impressive 82.5% increase. Such a design optimization not only maximizes the airflow within the machine but also significantly enhances overall cooling performance.
While most gaming laptops typically feature a dual fan cooling system, the SCAR 18 has taken performance to new heights by incorporating a third fan dedicated to cooling the GPU and VRAM.
