The SanDisk Optimus 5100 1TB NVMe SSD combines high-speed PCIe 4.0 performance with a value-focused design suitable for upgrading compatible desktop PCs and laptops. Its standard M.2 2280 form factor makes it an excellent option for use as a primary operating system drive, high-speed application drive or additional storage in systems equipped with compatible M.2 slots.

Using a PCIe® 4.0 x4 NVMe™ interface, the 1TB Optimus 5100 delivers sequential read speeds of up to 7,100MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 6,700MB/s. This represents a noticeable performance increase over the 500GB model and provides the bandwidth required for demanding file transfers, application loading, gaming and creator workloads.

Random performance is equally impressive, reaching up to 1 million IOPS for reads and 1.3 million IOPS for writes. Strong random performance helps maintain system responsiveness when working with operating system files, applications and workloads involving large numbers of smaller files. Actual performance may vary according to the host system, drive usage and operating conditions.

SanDisk integrates its nCache™ 4.0 technology to support smooth application multitasking and fast file-copy performance. The Optimus 5100 family uses 8th-generation SanDisk BiCS QLC 3D CBA NAND, combining modern NAND technology with capacities designed for both productivity and high-volume personal storage.

With 1TB of capacity, the Optimus 5100 provides useful space for Windows, productivity applications, creative projects, games, photographs and video content while retaining the speed advantages of NVMe storage. The Optimus 5100 family is available in capacities ranging from 500GB through to 4TB.

SanDisk has also designed the Optimus 5100 around improved power efficiency, making it suitable for laptop upgrades where power consumption can affect battery runtime as well as desktop installations where efficient high-speed storage is desirable.

Users can monitor drive performance and check for firmware updates using the downloadable SANDISK Dashboard application for Windows. Support for Acronis® True Image™ for SANDISK also provides a convenient option for transferring existing data to the new SSD, subject to SanDisk’s software eligibility and licensing terms.

The drive measures just 80 × 22 × 2.38mm and weighs approximately 5.7g, making it suitable for space-constrained notebooks as well as desktop systems. SanDisk backs the Optimus 5100 with a 5-year limited warranty, providing additional confidence for long-term everyday use.
